Saba’s trithlon 2023!

Hello, Tomodachi’s!

Good afternoon! It has been so long! Life has been busy in so many ways but I wanted to drop in after not posting in so long. I have heard from some of my blog readers, I did not even know I had, that they missed reading my blog and seeing my thoughts on certain subjects as well as my poetry. I am very grateful to you all for continuing to read my blog and encouraging me to continue writing. Thank you. Sorry that I have not been keeping up with writing but you know how life can be. Hopefully, this time around I can be more consistent with my writing and blogging.

Today’s topic I would like to talk about is the Triathlon that occurs every year on Saba. Just this past Saturday I participated in it once again. If I had to say one thing about the triathlon this year it was unexpectedly challenging for me this time around. Altough I have participicated in almost every triathlon, except for one, since returning to Saba it was so damn challenging this year. Though last year and this year I did the cycling and running for the first and second time, this time was different. I guess I am starting to feel the changes in my body as I get older and how it is VERY important to remain consistently active. I am just really happy that I was able to finish despite my legs feeling like they were going to give up from under me many times during the race. So, at least, in that sense I am proud of myself.

Even though, I may not be THAT old but getting older is no joke. Things that I would be able to do in my 20s or things I would just be able to jump into without prior training, I have come to notice I cannot really do it as easily now. Granted, I did not train much this time around but that never really used to be a problem before. Now it is. So I guess, that I am seeing the changes in my body it has become a motivation for me to get even more serious about exercising and sports as I get older. So a friendly reminder to you all: “Keep moving and continue to remain active especiallly as you get older! It is key to staying healthy and mobile longer.”

If you want to be able to still move around and do a lot of things at age 70 with no real problem, then the training and work needs to be done now when you are still young and able.

  1. It’s great to hear from you, Angie! I never did a triathlon, but I was i good shape until my disability cropped up. Wish I’d made more of an effort to stay in shape, but I really thought I was okay because I was slinging steel on my job. Goes to show, ya never really know. Anyway, keep taking care of yourself, my friend!
