Merry Christmas everyone and here’s a poem from me to you…

Hello everyone. It is Friday again and also Christmas. I hope you are enjoying your day to the fullest today! My day has been quietly hanging out and relaxing with family while eating and watching movies on the television, lol. I also spoke with my parents on Skype for the first time during the holiday season since coming to the Netherlands because we always spoke on the phone. So, it was nice being able to see them this time around. 🙂

I just wanted to say that though the year 2015 may have not been the best year for everyone, life is still as beautiful at the end of the day because of the simple fact that we are alive to see it and get the chance to hopefully see a better tomorrow.   Continue reading

Bleeding Heart

Hello everyone! Happy Friday!! I’m sure most of you must be ecstatic that it is Friday. I sure am 😀 Tomorrow I can sleep until all hours of the day without a care in the world, lol.

Anyway, some of you may already know the drill. Today is my Writing Related Fridays and I just wanted to share a poem with you all, after all I haven’t posted any poems in a while. This poem is also taken from my poetry book, I’m Only Human. So if you are interested you can purchase it  here on Amazon. Please, give a girl some support, lol. Continue reading

23rd Annual Writer’s Digest Self-Published Book Awards

Hello, Everyone! I just wanted to show you all what I received yesterday evening after I finished my internship. I sent a copy of  my poetry book to be judged for a self publishing book award at the beginning of the year and this is what I was sent back yesterday. I think the results are not bad for a first time author that I am, considering that I was contending with other self published authors sending there work and it was well over 2000 entrees. I am an amateur, a novice and yet received somewhat favourable results. (Although, for the grammar section I guess I was being marked using American English. I try to write in British English though I am not certain how much I achieve that, lol) So in a way, I am a little proud but it makes me realise that I still have a long way to go.

Being a writer means that you are always trying to improve your writing skills, your technique, your grammar and English, your characters, your story and the list goes on. As a writer you never come to the end of improving your skills. You always need to improve yourself. Even if you reach to Bestseller status, you will need improvement because people will also start having even higher expectations of you than a regular writer. Continue reading

A Phenomenal Woman

Konnichiha minna! Today is my Writing Related Fridays and I would like to share with you one of my favourite poems written by Maya Angelou herself. Though she is no longer with us, she will forever live in our hearts through her poetry. I aspire to be somewhat like her ,where one day my poetry can also be just as inspiring and great as hers were.

She was and continues to be a phenomenal woman to this day. Something I strive for every day. I hope you all had a great week and I will see you all next time. Take care! 🙂 Continue reading

Contradictions

Hello everyone. Today is my Writing Related Fridays and so I would like to share with you all a poem called Contradictions which is another poem, like my poem Wounded, that was not taken from my poetry book I’m Only Human.

I wrote this some months back and was thinking that some point in our lives we all contradict ourselves do we not? Sometimes do you not find you are contradicting yourself? Having two beliefs or doing and saying two different things that contradicts what you just did and said before?… So far I have not read a poem that talks about contradictions. so I decided to write it myself. 😛 Continue reading

We shall meet under the sun!

We shall meet under the sunKonnichiha (‘ha’ is pronounced as ‘wa’ in Japanese) my lovely followers and readers! Today is my Writing Related and Summer Vacation Fridays ( though I am no longer on summer vacation anymore) and it is my third day since returning to the Netherlands. I would like to share a poem with you all to mark my leaving Saba. This poem is called We Shall Meet Under the Sun. It is basically making a promise to see my beautiful island and my family and friends residing on Saba again next time, whenever that next time will be. Though it probably will be sooner rather than later.

A good friend of mine who I allowed to read my poem, about almost 2 years ago, said it sounded to her like I was writing a suicide note, lol. 😀 Do not worry. It is not anything like that. I’m still alive, right?! Lol. This is just a poem about a person and friend, who is leaving their loved one(s) behind but yet at the same time promising to someday meet again under the sun, wherever that sun may be shinning.
