“A Letter to My Unborn Daughter”- Javon Johnson

Hello everyone! Today is my Writing Related Fridays and so today I decided to take a look at some poetry on YouTube from others poets. I came across this very interesting, sweet and very funny poem (letter) from poet Javon Johnson. I do not even know Javon Johnson but he has now become my all time favourite with just this one poem. It immediately warmed my heart and I fell in love with it. I think it’s a beautiful poem/ letter. Take a look at the video below and please let me know if you also think that this is such a great, beautiful poem.

Anyway, I hope you all are doing well. Take care and have a great day! 🙂

Saturday’s Anime con

Hello everyone! Just like I did last year I just wanted to post my most recent experience at an anime convention at the World Forum in The Hague. I started my day off at 6.30 in the morning. Yes, you heard right! I woke up 6.30 on a Saturday morning which was the first time I ever woke up so early on a Saturday morning. I was amazed. Anyway, I began to get ready to go to the convention about around almost 12. I prepared sandwiches, some fruit and drinks because I was money-less and was not able to buy anything. Besides, I only had 3 euros in my pocket and the food and snacks at the anime convention is usually very expensive, so a few euros would have definitely not been able to sustain me for the whole day at the convention. No way. Continue reading

Really Look at Me!

Hello readers and followers. Have you ever felt sometimes like people are not truly looking at you and who you truly are but only looking at you from the surface? Well, this poem reflects how I have felt in the past and sometimes even now. Some people tend not to see the real you below the surface, which can be a real shame.

Alone

Hello readers and fellow bloggers. It’s been a week since I last posted. How are you all? Today I just wanted to post a poem I found interesting and that was written by Allen Edgar Poe. I found it interesting because in the first couple lines into the stanza it basically mentions how from childhood he felt and was different from everyone else. The way he saw things and his passions it was different from everyone else and so he was alone. Well at least that is my interpretation of the first lines of the poem.

Why does society ridicule men when they experience domestic violence?

Hello all. It was a nice sunny day earlier today although I spend the whole day in my room, but oh well. I just wanted to write a brief post about how men who are sexually abused or experience domestic violence are ridiculed for this even though this can probably happen to anyone.

Many cases when men are sexually or domestically abused they are practically left to themselves to suffer alone. They are so ashamed  to mention this to anyone and that these sort of things are never brought to light. The men who experience these things continue to feel ashamed and lonely with no way to express themselves because of fear of being ridiculed. Why is that? Continue reading

Another Maya Angelou poem that’s a favourite of mine.

Hello All. How is everyone? Some time back I wrote a post about Maya Angelou being one of my favourite poets even though to be honest I know only but a few poets. That time I posted a poem from Maya Angelou called ‘Phenomenal Woman’ which is a personal favourite of mine.
Today I just wanted to share another of her poems that is also a favourite of mine. This is because some of the poems that Maya Angelou wrote I can somewhat relate to on a personal level if I may say so. Not to mention they are both confident and sassy but at the same time mellow. I especially like poems like that.
