Today is Saba Day!

Hello everyone! TGIF. I hope you are having a great Friday wherever part of the world you may be. Today is going to be a little short and brief. I just wanted to say that today is my island’s national holiday although the day is almost over on this side of the world.

Every first Friday of December we Sabans celebrate Saba Day. It is our holiday and we have the day off, although I didn’t because I am living in the Netherlands and also was at my internship at Spotzer Media today. 😥

Not to mention in the past on Saba Day, other Sabans also living in the Netherlands would come and celebrate it together, but not this year. It was a little sad, but well, at least I went to a Japanese restaurant (went to Wagamama again 🙂 ) and ate some delicious food to commemorate the occasion.  Continue reading

The armless man & the blind man

Hello there. Today is yet another Wednesday and yet another week of my Opinion Wednesdays. This Wednesday I would like to discuss something I came across some weeks back that really interested me. What interested me was a story about two Chinese men, a blind man and an armless man, that overcame the odds and planted over 10,000 trees together considering their situation.

I was amazed! Jia Wenki and Jia Hexia took their unfortunate situation and made it possible to survive by depending on one another where the other lacked. How often do you see things like this? Not that often. In this modern world where most people only care about themselves (and immediate family sometimes) or are too ‘busy’ to give another person the time of day or are too busy complaining and blaming others for their unfortunate situation. It is just simply amazing. Not to mention they have been doing this for the past 13 years is also incredible  to believe. Continue reading

I was invited to attend the Dutch Caribbean Book Club

Hello everyone! Once again it is Friday! And as much as I would just absolutely love to sleep and spend the whole day in my bed for the weekend, it won’t go the way as I want it to this time around. That is due to having to do school assignments, my internship duties which I didn’t get the chance to complete them all today (although I stayed pretty late in the office trying to complete some of it) as well as an event that I was invited to attend for tomorrow afternoon… So I’ll be quite preoccupied to say the least.

Anyway, the event that I was invited to attend and that I agreed to willing is called the Dutch Caribbean Book Club. This is, you can call, somewhat of a compensation for not getting the chance to promote my poetry book, I’m Only Human, because of some unforeseen circumstances some weeks back during the DC Pearls event that I was nominated for. Lost at Sea.

Hello everyone! It’s Wednesday again and another eek of my Opinion Wednesdays. We are also halfway through the week again, thank Goodness! I can do with some more sleep 😛

Anyway, I wanted to  ask how many of you have heard of the man who was lost at seas for 14 months? I came across a news article some weeks back that talked about a man called José Salvador Alvarenga, who disappeared off the coast of Mexico after going to fish with one other companion, on his small fishing boat. Then weather turned for the worse. I am not sure how he withstood being alone for so long without going half crazy, but he did. This guy had drifted on his boat for 438 days while catching birds, fish and turtles with his bare hands and eating them raw. Continue reading

Michiko to Hatchin is a must watch anime!

Hello everyone! Just as slowly the weekend came, the same way it left… Not! It went way too quickly to be enjoyed properly! (Sign) Anyway as short as it was I hope you enjoyed it nonetheless. I enjoyed it sleeping 😀

Anyway, I haven’t posted on Sundays in a while but today is my Things that I love and/ or What I’m doing with my life Sundays. Today I would like to talk about the latter, Things that I love, one of which is anime.

Last week after scrolling through my Facebook news feed I came across a clip of Michiko to Hatchin, that was posted in an Anime group, which piqued my interest. It is such a … I don’t want to say the word bad-ass, but it was very bad-ass! I loved every minute of that anime. Besides being bad-ass it was also sweet and realistic (although it was notalways realistic). This anime is marked as a josei, adventure and action. Josei genre meaning that it is usually created by women and aimed to a demographic audience of young adults and older women and includes mature content. Continue reading

Bleeding Heart

Hello everyone! Happy Friday!! I’m sure most of you must be ecstatic that it is Friday. I sure am 😀 Tomorrow I can sleep until all hours of the day without a care in the world, lol.

Anyway, some of you may already know the drill. Today is my Writing Related Fridays and I just wanted to share a poem with you all, after all I haven’t posted any poems in a while. This poem is also taken from my poetry book, I’m Only Human. So if you are interested you can purchase it  here on Amazon. Please, give a girl some support, lol. Continue reading
