Hey friends, followers and readers. Today’s post is going to be a little shorter than it usually is on Wednesdays. I just wanted to ask a simple question. What is normal anyway?
“Normal is an illusion. What is normal for the spider is chaos for the fly.”
– By Charles Addams
I like Charles Addam’s quote very much. I was always being asked either by my friends or parents to act normal. However, what is it like to be normal? I never understood what they truly meant by that? I never before thought that I was nothing but normal. I was being myself and not trying to be like anyone else.
I remember writing a post a little while ago about when I was younger ( Post’s name: The woes of some girls and women). For example I mentioned in that post that I was a the true definition of a Tom-boy and my mother did not particularly like that, as did some other people. Instead of wanting to do things that were considered feminine or girlish, I always wanted to try doing other things. I always wanted to go fishing and go camping in the wilderness etc. though. My mother would always get angry and would say why could I not act normal. Well my parents has gotten used to my ways by now of course. It would be a surprise if they didn’t. They no longer ask or tell me to act normal because that is just how I am. There is no changing me.
If being ourselves is not considered normal than how are we supposed to act? I think people should just be themselves and people should stop trying to force others to act in a certain way, ‘normal‘, whatever that means?
